The shortest path to better design decisions

Stop guessing what “good design” means.

Most design advice gives you inspiration without a way to judge the work. This guide gives you a practical standard: see what customers need, spot the friction, and know what to improve next.

01 / Outcome

Make the value easier to see.

Help customers understand what you offer, why it matters, and what they should do next.

02 / Certainty

Learn from real pages.

See the principle applied across products, commerce, SaaS, hospitality, media, and services.

03 / Speed

Use it in one sitting.

Skip the design textbook. Read the visual guide, then return to its examples when a real decision appears.

04 / Effort

Start without a design degree.

Plain language, useful checklists, and before-you-publish prompts make the ideas immediately usable.

Design is a business advantage

Better design can increase perceived value before the product changes.

Customers cannot see your internal effort. They see the words, hierarchy, interactions, proof, and details in front of them. Those signals shape whether the business feels clear, credible, premium, and worth choosing.

McKinsey’s five-year study found that top-quartile design performers achieved 32 percentage points more revenue growth and 56 percentage points more total returns to shareholders than industry counterparts. The guide turns that big idea into everyday decisions a smaller team can actually make.

Time-condensed value

15+ years of experience. One focused field guide.

I built this for the moment when you know something feels off, but you cannot explain why. Instead of spending years learning design by trial and error, use the same principles I use to evaluate products, websites, campaigns, and customer journeys.

What took years to learnbecomes a standard your team can use today.

What felt subjectivebecomes a clearer conversation about the customer.

What looked overwhelmingbecomes one practical next improvement.

Open your homepage beside the guide. Ask the questions. Compare the examples. Pick the highest-friction moment. Then improve one thing that makes the customer’s next decision easier.

Product

Does the interface make the next useful action obvious?

Does the message create interest and make the offer concrete?

Customer journey

Does each step reduce doubt and build momentum?

About the author

I’m Levin Mejia. I design products and customer experiences that help businesses grow.

I’m a senior product designer, founder, and operator. I’ve designed onboarding used by millions, supported entrepreneurs on Shopify, worked across product and go-to-market teams, and helped grow a bootstrapped SaaS company from zero ARR to a multi-seven-figure exit.

This guide is the design education I wish more founders had before paying for another redesign: a clear way to see what matters, make better decisions, and brief the work with confidence.

“Levin is the kind of designer every product team hopes for: fast, thoughtful, and relentlessly high-quality.”

Erika Storli, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Trello

Made for people building the business

You do not need to become a designer. You need to make stronger design decisions.

This is for you if…

  • You are building or improving a website, product, store, or campaign.
  • You want customers to understand the value faster.
  • You manage designers or freelancers and need a clearer standard.
  • You know something feels off but cannot yet name the problem.
  • You want practical examples instead of abstract design theory.

This is not…

  • A 200-page academic textbook.
  • A collection of trendy templates.
  • A promise that aesthetics alone will fix the business.
  • A replacement for speaking with customers.
  • A sales pitch disguised as a useful guide.

What exactly is Design for Entrepreneurs?

A free 60-page visual field guide to the design decisions that influence whether customers understand, trust, and choose a business. It covers customer experience, navigation, layout, colour, typography, calls to action, social proof, and a bonus CTA-copy library.

Who is the guide for?

Founders, entrepreneurs, marketers, product leaders, and business owners who need to improve customer-facing work or give clearer direction to a designer. It is useful whether you are doing the work yourself or reviewing work from a team.

Is it really free?

Yes. Enter your email and the private PDF download link appears immediately. You may also receive occasional practical design notes. You can unsubscribe at any time and keep the guide.

How long does it take to read?

It is designed as a visual, one-sitting read. Skim it once to understand the system, then keep it nearby and return to the examples and checklists when you are making a real design decision.

Do I need design experience?

No. Every principle is explained in plain language and connected to a practical customer or business outcome. The goal is not to teach design software. It is to help you see and judge the work more clearly.

Are the examples real?

Yes. The guide uses real pages from recognizable products, stores, service businesses, and digital experiences for educational commentary. A linked source appendix credits the referenced brands and websites.

What happens after I enter my email?

Your private download link appears on the page immediately. The PDF is optimized for reliable delivery while preserving all 60 landscape pages.

Can I share it with my team?

Yes. Use it to review a homepage, align around a redesign, improve a campaign, or give the team a shared language for discussing customer experience and conversion.
